Elizabeth Jordan compares the Skinners' permissive approach to parenting favorably with others in the 1930s and 1940s. The motive for inventing and marketing the "Aircrib"a glorified playpen with a sheet that could be crankedwas simply to lighten a parent's work for a few hours a day.
